What is Kalsarpa Yog?

When number of stars concentrate at one particular position in a horoscope then it is termed as conjunction of planets (yog). In astrology "yog" has paramount importance.

Before we study kalsarpa, it is important to take into account Rahu (North Lunar Node) and Ketu (South Lunar Node). Rahu is considered as a head of a serpent where as Ketu is said to be the tail of the serpent. Because of these two planets, kalsarpa yog is formed. Lord Rahu, son of Sinihsika and Hiranya Kasyap submerged himself into the sea to imbibe nectar obtained from the Samudramathan. when Rahu was about to drink Lord Surya and Chandra ( Sun and Moon) hinted to Mohini. Lord Vishnu disguised as Mohini slashed his head off. After this the north part is called as Rahu while the south part is called as Ketu. Here after they were made part of the Navgraha.

Kalsarpa yog is formed when rahu is tainted. When Rahu is in auspicious position then it brings good fortune and is heroic. It's supremacy lies in charms and spells, black magic. If Rahu is tainted then it could lead to memory loss, ill fame, demoniac possession, and danger to descendent. Also can lead to delay and failure in different work areas. To make the task easier and achievable Vedic Kalsarpa Yog Shanti Vidhan is to be performed.

Rahu and Ketu aakash mein gochar na honewale graha hai. The nodes where Moon's itinerant path crosses with earth's itinerant path, then these very nodes are called as Rahu and Ketu. Even though this was discovered later, its related vedic mantra is mentioned in Rigved, Yajurved, Atharvaved.

Ancient Astrologers Maharishi Parashar and Virahamihir have recognized Kalsarpa yog and have mentioned in their epics. Similarly Maharishi Mrugu,Kalyan Varma,Vadrayan Garg,Manithya have acquired Kalsarpa yog.

In Arthava Ved there is mention about the eclipse and crossing nodes. If in individuals horoscope Rahu is in optimum position then the individual is fortunate and heroic. Being in auspicious position results in prosperity and rajyog. And if in individuals horoscope, Rahu is in tainted position then it could lead to memory loss, ill fame, demoniac possession, and danger to child/descendent/offspring. Also can lead to delay and failure in different tasks.

According to the vedic traditions, in House warming ceremony (Graha Shanti Puja) before God Rahu lies God Kala (God of Time) and after him lies God Serpent, without the other two the rites are incomplete. If we come to think of kala (time) then time is part of God's administration. From the time of birth to the end, all the changes occurring in different phases are bound by time, season, aayan, year,month,a lunar day, hour, minute, second, rupee, religion meter are the tools used to calculate our age, this very kala is the controller of the world.

Time is a judge to impart good-bad, sin-merit based on mind/spirit/virtue, element, irascible. Time is speed. Time is progressive which does not stop for anyone. For good time ahead it is important to worship kala (God of Time).
When we address Serpent then it is observed that serpent and human share close relationship. After death if an individual still holds his desires then he is caught in Sarpayoni (Serpent Origin). Due to his deep feelings he is re-born in the same family. Even after the rebirth the kalsarpa yog is carried forward in the horoscope.

It is observed in the opulent people's horoscopes along with Kalsarpa yog if there is unison of Sun and Moon or unsubdued center then Rahu ---. Rahu has a strong hold on poor and sore people. In such situations worshipping Nagdevta (Serpent God) helps relieve. Serpent is a symbol of prosperity. In the world serpents governs lordship on the wealth and prosperity. Those who covet wealth and prosperity, their horoscope awaken and are freed from Nagpash (Serpent curse). Only Supreme Being can get rid from Rahu-Ketu's Nagpash as they can enslave Kala (God of Time)
